Kantunil Criollo Corn: A Pillar in Our Producer Network

Histories Behind the Taste

For the past three years, Kantunil Criollo Corn has emerged as a fundamental component of our producer network, playing a crucial role in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and preserving biodiversity. This group, made up of diverse local producers, has come together with a common goal: to support each other and foster the exchange of knowledge and research that benefits all its members.

The union of these producers has not only strengthened their capacity to address the challenges of the agricultural sector, but has also enabled the creation of a collaborative space where experiences, techniques, and resources are shared. This collective approach has resulted in an enrichment of agricultural knowledge, with each member contributing their experience and knowledge, creating an environment conducive to innovation and continuous learning.

Recently, we had the opportunity to visit some of the plots that are part of this group. During our visit, the producers proudly showed us the native corn crops they have been cultivating. Each plot is a testament to the effort and dedication of these farmers, who have adopted practices that not only seek to maximize production but also care for the environment and preserve the native corn varieties that are part of their cultural heritage.

Kantunil Criollo Corn not only represents a crop variety, but is a symbol of the unity and resilience of local producers. Their commitment to sustainability and the preservation of their agricultural heritage is an inspiring example of how collaboration can generate a positive impact on the community. As we move forward, it is critical to continue supporting initiatives like this, which not only benefit producers but also contribute to the health of the ecosystem and the cultural richness of our region.
